who is she and what is she based on???

her name is 4k tan and i think i might be her ONLY FAN ever...
so basically she is a malware tan who is based off the 4k virus, which was transported via floppy disks and was isolated in 1989. 4k infected COM and EXE files and was one of the first malware to use stealth tactics, leaving the person owning the computer having no idea their system was even infected.

so how did 4k even work?

4k would find your exe or com files and corrupt them, make their file sizes larger, leap the date of the files exactly 100 years later, and re allocate the files so your links to your media would be lost. sort of like how if you imported a picture from a folder on ur computer that was named "pictures" but then that folder was deleted or your computer suddenly thinks its supposed to be from the "screenshots" folder instead. maybe im explaining it wrong tho.

4k was also a little silly

4k also annually replaced your boot screen to "FRODO LIVES." on September 22nd. This gave the 4k virus the alias of "Frodo". This seems to be an obvious reference to the Lord of The Rings character and Sep 22nd is Bilbo Baggins birthday.

4k tan is a teenage girl who is proudly a geek... and a ninja! She is very nerdy about Lord of the Rings and roleplaying. probably LARPing before it even became... the *other* meaning. She also enjoys renaissance fairs. She has a very strange sense of style, with sporting a neckerchief, a long sleeved shirt, gloves, knee breeches, boots, and a belt with puches that carry kunai and shuriken. She also likes swords though.
She is a part of the other malware tan who all work under the queen Viru-tan and have highy esteemed virus tans and kuns that are considered Generals. They work to fight against operating systems. I personally headcanon the viruses do this because due to their "species", idk a better word, they have system files and stuff of the like as a source of food.
4k tan really doesnt like fighting actually! Shes a pacifist. But she does take fighting in her roleplays quite seruoulsy!
4k tan likes roleplaying with her friends BBSpot-tan, Slashdot-tan, and BeOS-tan!

My Headcanons for 4k tan

+ Her favorite food is .exe files.
+ She is smart but really struggles to focus on academics and such. She is only able to focus on things shes interested in like LOTR and such. She has ADHD and people often underestimate her or say shes too ditzy or lazy. She just needs the right support. Idk if they have school for malwares or not but eh.
+ Shes very agile
+ She's over 6 ft tall! i'll figure out an exact height soon
+ She snores like "honk shmimimimimiii"

More info about 4k tan

On the OS tan collective wiki, it says on the source of the 4k tan profile avatar image that the art was made by “Aurora”. Whoever Aurora is though has been completely lost to time—along with the user who uploaded her avatar photo, “Red-Machine”. I mean, possibly not—the issue is that I can’t see their profile because it doesn’t exist, but the user once did. Anyways though, I also can’t find any more art on 4k tan besides her creator’s avatar photo they made. So, 99% of media of this character outside of the wiki page is lost media. Whoever Aurora is though, and if they ever find this, hi Aurora. Your characters are lovely and they have touched me in inexplicable ways. I hope you appreciate the zeal I have for a character you made nearly 20 years ago and have probably forgotten about.

Why do i like her so much?

Its kinda simple actually. I found it really cool someone out there was making personified characters for historic malware, and this one specifically piqued my interest. A lot of the other characters I read about were serious about their job, or were very into being malicious, but 4k tan here was just here to have fun. And also didnt like all the virus stuff. I feel as someone who is also nerdy and energetic i resonate with her. I also think her character design is unique. Like, a neckerchief?? Knee breeches?? What? XD and the combination of being just a teenager whos passionate about stuff and being a ninja and being a malware that could literally destroy your computer. Shes a wild card.
